Apart from acting in theater, Bea loves making shows happen. Since 2015, she has managed and co-managed productions staged by Positive Space, the theatre collective she co-founded, Areté, and Ateneo Blue Repertory.

Bea’s experience as the Company Manager of Ateneo Blue Repertory’s 25th Season (2016-17), which required overseeing four major productions during the season, further solidified her skills across the various aspects of company and production management.

Orphie and the Book of Heroes is a one-act musical about a young Greek girl named Orphie who must retrieve her guardian, the storyteller Homer, from Hades’ clutches. It was the first post-pandemic newbie production of Ateneo Blue Repertory (blueREP) and the first blueREP newbie production to be staged in Areté.

blueREP’s run marked the Asian premiere of Kooman and Dimond’s musical.

“In its core, the play is a stance for the strength of stories and the power it can inspire even for those in the hapless disposition. As Orphie sang and Homer would agree, ‘Stories can help you find your way.’”

“At the end of the day, Orphie and the Book of Heroes may seem like child’s play with its simplicity and fun, but the effort and heart that the blueREP newbies have put in shows that it was certainly more than that.”

Set amidst the bloody landscape of Rodrigo Duterte’s War on Drugs in the Philippines, RD3RD is an adaptation that boldly portrays the machinery behind the rise of a dictatorship and the consequences the people face as history is doomed to repeat itself.

RD3RD was staged thrice in 2018, with the first staging exclusively in partnership with Areté, the second as part of the program for the Shakespeare, Traffics, Tropics conference by the Asian Shakespeare Association and hosted by University of the Philippines Diliman (UP Diliman) and Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), and the third in partnership with De La Salle University (DLSU).

The Tony Award-winning work Urinetown: The Musical is “a satirical comedy about peeing privileges, toilet humor, and questionable politics” (Ateneo Blue Repertory or blueREP, 2015).

Urinetown was the 2015 Newbie Production of blueREP, which is the annual project focused on welcoming and training new members of the organization across the theatrical disciplines of performance, production, and theatre management. Apart from a few members of the artistic team, everyone involved in the production was a student at the time of its staging.
